Three Keys to Sustaining Change

If you’re finding it difficult to sustain changes in your organization, you’re in good company. Only 12% of organizations are able to sustain the impact of their transformation efforts for three years, according to a 2023 survey by McKinsey (1). Analysis of the survey reveals three key factors in sustaining transformation for lasting impact.

  1. Maintain implementation rigor in later stages [Don’t get complacent.]

  2. Develop your people’s capabilities [‘Upgrade talent’]

  3. Invest adequate resources at all stages [Deploy key people and financial investments]

Respondents who did these three things were 3.4 times more likely to achieve and sustain their transformation goals, and these organizations’ EBIT growth was 2x greater than their peers over a five-year period.

At Agility 11, we leverage the Path to Agility framework® (below) to empower and guide our clients to accomplish all of these goals in a rigorous and sustainable way. Path to Agility provides detailed yet flexible guidance at all stages of an agile adoption initiative, and at all levels of the organization from the C-Suite to delivery teams. We also coach senior leaders throughout the process, supporting them to maintain momentum.

With the help of Agility 11 and Path to Agility®, one of our clients (a Fortune 500 web marketing organization) was able to improve quality by 47% and reduce project timeframes by 38%, and they have sustained these improvements for more than three years.
