Minimum Delightful Product

What do you think when you hear the phrase 'minimum viable product' or MVP? Do you imagine a barely-functional & crappy product? (MCP, maybe?) People often tell me that MVPs have been banished within their organizations because stakeholders have experienced too many crappy MVPs. It may be time to rethink how we conceive the MVP, using the 'pyramid' model of product qualities shown below. (Shout out to Teddy Carroll, a fantastic Agile Coach, for introducing this idea to me.)

Functionality is the foundation, but a good product also needs reliability and usability.  A great product achieves delightfulness! If your notion of 'MVP' is the horizontal, just-barely-functional slice, you may want to slice vertically instead to achieve a Minimum Delightful Product.
